A native of Tampa, Florida, Dr. Dan Lyons was conferred the degree of Doctor of Optometry by the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, after earning his baccalaureate degree from the University of South Florida. He completed a residency in “Hospitalbased Optometry” at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he received training in advanced medical management and diagnostic techniques.
Following his move to Reno, Nevada, Dr. Lyons served our Nation’s veterans for three years at the I. A. Lougaris VA Medical Center (Reno) before joining Dr. David Chaffin, MD in the formation of Nevada Eye Consultants where he has been Clinic Director for over 10 years. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry in Advanced Care Medical Optometry (ACMO) and the treatment and management of ocular disease. His professional affiliations include the Optometric Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery, the American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry. He is the Immediate Past President of the Nevada Optometric Association and is a past President of the Northern Nevada Optometric Society. He is currently adjunct faculty for Pacific University College of Optometry. Dr. Lyons often lectures to both optometrists and opticians.
