At Nevada Eye Consultants, we care for the complete health of the eye. In addition to performing routine eye exams to check for common eye conditions, such as refractive errors and improving vision with procedures such as LASIK surgery, our experienced eye doctors also monitor the eye for natural changes or diseases that could impact the quality of your eyesight. Yearly eye examinations are the best way to make sure you detect any changes to your eye health in a timely manner, helping to ensure early diagnosis and prompt treatment. Since some eye diseases are asymptomatic in the beginning stages, early detection can be vital for the protection of your eyesight.
Corneal Procedures
Corneal conditions, such as keratoconus, can compromise the refractive power and clarity of the eye. Although prescription eyewear may correct mild keratoconus, more serious cases of the condition typically require treatments such as corneal crosslinking or INTACS® corneal inserts. Severe corneal conditions that do not respond well to less invasive treatments may require a corneal transplant as a last resort to restore eyesight.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in America, and typically does not exhibit any symptoms during the earliest stages of the disease. This progressive condition is caused by a buildup of eye pressure that can consequently damage the optic nerve. Although there is no known cure for glaucoma, our ophthalmologists can provide a number of effective treatments for the disease including iStent Trabecular Micro-Bypass.
